The very reason to create this blog, is to let you all know the SCIENTIFIC REASONS behind eating food in Banana leaf.........The banana leaf feels so clean and fresh, moreover its hygienic. Ghee and oil do not stick to and so enjoying their flavors is easier.

The fresh banana leaves have a very thin wax, called EPICUTICULAR WAX coating which melts when hot food is served on it. This wax-like coating releases a pleasant aroma and infuses an extra flavor into your food. When you enjoy Rasam and rice on banana leaves you are most likely to feel this fresh flavor and awesome aroma…yummmm… I personally have a very delightful experience, while eating in banana leaf…

Banana leaves contain large amounts of Polyphenols such as Epigallocatechin Gallate, or EGCG, also found in green tea. Polyphenols are natural antioxidants found, which are said to prevent many lifestyle diseases. It has Anti-bacterial properties that can possibly kill the germs in food.

As there is no chemical reaction, the food keeps its value intact: it can endure heat and react well without tearing apart from the heat.
